Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and vocalist since the mid 1990s. Her first Broadway roles, she played her role in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In her performance as Essie In You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working alongside famous directors and actors both on stage and screen. Ashford is scheduled to be in the role of Kumail Nanjiani on the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford's upcoming project includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film will be available on Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford returns to Broadway in March 2023, where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place located at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will be the creative team for the production. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the first impeachment proceeding in America over 100 Years. Her two-season stint on the CBS comedy B Positive was her first big role. Also, she was a part of the popular series developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. Other Broadway credits includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Ashford is an Denver origins native, and now splits her time in Los Angeles.
